What does CDCA Do?

CDCA was founded in 1969 as a result of the deep interest of a number of child care center directors in establishing a central organization for child care. At the same time the United Way of St. Louis was interested in assuring that high quality standards were in place in child care centers receiving United Way support.

Families
CDCA helps families find child care and provides tools to assist them in their efforts to identify care that is high quality, affordable and appropriate for each family's unique needs. You can access this referral service by calling us directly at 314-531-1412, submitting your request on-line for us to do your search, or do your own search by using our new and improved online search feature. Specialized referral and support services are available for families whose children have special needs - just ask your Referral Specialist.

Child Care Professionals
CDCA works with child care professionals, child care centers and family child care homes to improve the quality and availability of child care through workshops, state approved online training, customized Affiliate Services and on-site observation and consultation to support programs in including children with special needs. CDCA works with employers like Washington University to respond to the specific work and family needs of their employees by offering a variety of fee-based and consulting services.

Community Leaders
CDCA serves as a positive voice for child care in the community by collecting data, conducting research and being an advocate. We help improve the quality of child care within the community through programs such as 24:1 Initiative.
